A wine sourced from a small number of Barossa vineyards that produce low-yielding and highly concentrated fruit. The Mataro adds an earthy complexity to the richness of Shiraz, balancing fruit forward power with elegance.
The 2011 Drawcard Shiraz Mataro is a brooding deep red/black colour with a lifted, spicy bouquet of dark forest fruits and background chocolate. The palate is beautifully robust showing richness from the Shiraz and a little extra firmness from the Mataro on the finish. This is a blend of two of the Barossa’s oldest and most traditional red Varieties. While drinking beautifully now it can be cellared for a few years, if so desired, during which time it will gain in complexity and interest.
