This is a blend of fine old tawnies that have been tucked away Peter Lehmann’s Hoffmann solera dating back more than 20 years. It has good rancio character with lifted brandy spirit on the nose, luscious, nutty flavours and lingering acidity. Careful blending ensures the best of the solera barrels are used and the style maintains consistent quality year after year. As a barrel matured tawny, it can be enjoyed for some weeks after opening.
Denoting its exceptional age, the colour is a bright burnished copper, with a hint of green. This indicates it is a blend of both red & white grapes. The base wine is from the original Hoffmann stocks, whose age was unknown. It shows beautifully lifted brandy spirit & rancio characters on the nose. The palate is deliciously nutty with soft buttery caramel and hints of vanilla bean.
