2022 Barossan X Daring Shiraz
Peter Lehmann himself believed rules existed to be bent, broken, blended and amended. We’ve let our winemakers run wild to create these eclectic flavour explorations, marrying the rich flavours of Barossa Shiraz with the exuberance of New World varietals, creating a fusion of flavours that challenge tradition. There’s a splash of modern attitude in every sip of these experimental varietals, creating a wine for the bold and curious palate. This is the excitement your tastebuds have been searching for.
We invite you to Rewrite the Rules and enjoy it your way.
WINEMAKING & MATURATION
The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning at optimum fruit flavour ripeness and fermented on their skins for 7 days. After undergoing malolactic fermentation in barrel, components were aged for a further 6 months in a variety of French and American new and seasoned oak hogsheads prior to parcel selection, blending, fining and bottling in April of 2024
TASTING NOTE
Medium intensity ruby-red core with a bright purple hue. Aromas of lifted red plum, blackberry and delicious varietal notes of sour cherry and dried thyme gained from the Montepulciano. The palate is medium bodied with a bright textural mid-palate possessing a firm grip, reminiscent of the varietal’s Italian roots. The finish is vibrant and bright-fruited with a length of lightly toasted cedar oak notes and savoury dried fruits.
Cellar until 2032. This wine is a perfect addition to any rich meal. Serve with thick-cut dry-aged Wagyu steak with a side of hasselback potatoes sauteed in garlic.
