2021 Masters Eight Songs Shiraz
The Master’s Collection has been inspired by significant people and moments during Peter Lehmann’s life. Each one is unique and distinctive, just like the wines themselves. Peter looked for inspiration in all facets of his life and had a particular love of the arts. The Eight Songs Shiraz is named after one of his favourite musical works, ‘Eight Songs for a Mad King’.
Grapes were harvested in the morning. They were fermented on skins for up to two weeks. Individual components were pressed and transferred to a barrel for MLF fermentation. Following MLF, the wine batches for Eight Songs were selected at our annual classification tasting. Then blended and matured for a further 18 months in 40% new French oak hogsheads (60% older).
WINE MAKERS NOTES
This Shiraz has a deep crimson in colour with purple hues, rich and fragrant with abundant satsuma plum, blueberry and dusty cedar notes. The palate is all about texture and mouthfeel, with rich ripe plums, dark chocolate and a pure fruited long savoury finish.
